Writing an EDI Plan for Funding
Funders increasingly expect well-considered EDI Plans in funding applications. Join this informational session on good practice.
Date: 8th October 2025 13:00-14:00 BST
Funders are increasingly requiring researchers applying for funding to demonstrate commitment and actions on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and to embed EDI plans into their research design. This could include aspects like accessibility, recruitment, and governance, but could also include the research methods themselves and make-up of the research team. Who is being included as research participants and how are their needs being anticipated?
In this seminar, Prof Jemina Napier, Associate Principal for Research Culture & People and a leading researcher in sign language communication and access, will share good practice for developing EDI Plans.
Presenter:
Prof Jemina Napier – Chair of Intercultural Communication and is currently the Associate Principal for Research Culture & People for Heriot-Watt University. Fellow of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (UK) and also of the Chartered Institute of Linguists UK. Prof Napier is also the EDI Lead for the EDI Caucus.
Join us from 13:00-14:00 UK time.
This seminar will be recorded and published on our website and our YouTube channel. British Sign Language can be provided if requested in advance by emailing edicaucus@hw.ac.uk. If none is requested for the event, we will have BSL added to the recording and published.
