About
The EDI Caucus, a research group based at Heriot-Watt University working closely with employers to develop evidence-based initiatives to help recruit and retain a diverse workforce, held a workshop for men working in management and human resources, discussing a template for organisational change. The workshop supported attendees to create more diversity and success in organisations. Research shows that gender diversity, retention, and opportunities for women across all organisational levels is a business issue. Organisations that leverage their diverse workforce see tangible benefits, such as better decision-making, new ideas, and increased innovation.
Attendees received a certificate of complete for use in continuing professional development (CPD) records.
Who was it for?
Following an absence of men attending previous workshops, EDICa created this workshop for men only but inclusive to individuals from all sectors, company size, and roles. We had a significant amount of interest with more than 40 men signing up.
What was covered?
- The workshop introduced the positive business impacts of implementing a menstrual health and menopause action plan, including the legal rationale (with the 2025 Employment Rights Act, it will be mandatory for all larger organisations to submit a menopause action plan to the UK government).
- We covered the legal background and the social model of disability
- We went through an evidence-based step-by-step template of how a business can respond to the government mandatory request for a menopause action plan.
